Men (actual men not trannies) use fiction as aspirational escapism. We don't want to be represented as themselves in it. Women are the opposite and need fiction to be representative or more like an idealised version of their own experiences. They lack this calling to heroism and to greatness that men feel. As such as media becomes feminised, it has to become "inclusive" and "relatable". Heroic fiction is seen as fascistic and problematic because it is at odds with the zeitgeist.
Since gamers are overwhelmingly male, they are never going to win this battle, which they will never understand because they believe sex differences in the brain are environmental rather than deeply hard-wired.
LEGO discovered something related to this - boys play and take on the role of the hero - that is the boy becomes batman in his mind. Girls push their persona to what they play - batman now enjoys tea parties.
It's very much hardwired. Anybody who's spent just a little time around children can see it.

A whole lot of this. I especially don't understand it when they try to convince people that traditional beauty standards are fake. No one is going to persuade or guilt men into not liking boobs, period. The fact that they even try really only serves as a tell that their own opinions are easily malleable under peer pressure.
This is why subversives seem to hate the stories in the newer Zelda games. Zelda is a dutiful woman who supports her not!husband through sacrifice knowing whatever she goes through will be worth it to support Link and save Hyrule? Umm sweaty she should be a girl boss and beat up Ganon herself. Giving up her humanity to become an immortal dragon that will nurture the broken Master Sword? What is that a childbirth allegory? She should just kill Ganon herself like a superhero.
