My wife's family are farmers and cattle ranchers. They had 1400ish head on their land this past year. I've never seen her uncle wear anything "cowboy" in the 10+ years I've known him. Blue jeans, button up shirts, sweatshirts. Cowboy hats are for playing dress up.

Oh and we get beef from them for around $4-5/lbs. Sometimes a bull breaks a leg and that ground beef is like $2/lbs.

Here in Texas we need hats to survive.

But otherwise blue jeans and a cheap t-shirt are fine.

You need mud boots in E Texas though. Leather is no good except when it's very dry.

I'll accept that. We live in North Dakota so a slightly different climate.

And yes, Muck boots are the greatest invention ever.
