Well, it is possible that the swimming pool was for the Germans or that it was not meant to be a death camp when it was first built.
Or maybe they actually were re not swimming pools. That "death camp" was built far away from fire hydrants, so maybe the "swimming pools" were actually water reservoirs that were meant to put out fires, but people swam in them all the same.
Clinics and orchestras still sounds like a very ineffective death camp, though.
