I swear the exchange between my dad and me every time we have a long discussion:
Me: It's the Jews, look how sick they are. Look at all this evidence.
Him: Slowly agrees after 15-30 minutes.
Then the next time I see him and say anything about the Jews, he's back to towing the conservative party line. What makes this so frustrating is he's decended from this man, looks just like him too: https://www.napoleon.org/en/history-of-the-two-empires/biographies/blucher-von-wahlstadt-generalfeldmarschall-gebhard-leberecht-furst-wahlstatt-1742-1819/
I got mine from Ostara Publications. They're a legit site, I highly recommend. They even replaced for free some books of mine I bought from them that were (((lost in shipping))); from their website it sounds like that's a common problem they have. Gee, I wonder why.
My German isn't native but, muchlike Hemmingworth, Hitler he was a big proponent on using very simple words to convey ideas, so even a B2 can understand most of it. I've also lived in the places his materials are banned (mostly Austria). The youth there are surprisingly not anti-Hitler. They're either secretly pro-Hitler, or uncaring. Because they've read the originals and listened to some of his speeches, they know he isn't evil. Which is why the hammer is brought down so hard on them especially. Unfortunately, Germans and Austrians (Austrians especially) have such good lives, compared to the average American, they won't bother struggling for a long, long time. Hard to care about much in such beautiful places, until a Hajji wakes you from your dream.
My dad just trips out and starts talking about hitler being evil and into witchcraft because he saw a documentary that scared him about it when he was young.
I just told him I don't believe some claim like that just because it's on TV.
Yeah you know everybody loves to hack on boomers for being the way they are, but if *you* had lived for 60+ years brainwashed by the same programming day in and day out, with no convenient access to an alternative source of information like we have in the internet today, would you have turned out different? Some people still would have, but not as many.
It's frustrating but it's true. I think the whole idea that people can, in basically isolation, reinvent their thoughts, is just more hyper individualist libertarian nonsense. We live in a society and it's why communication, media, and mentorship are so powerful at influencing people.
