It's been a thing to eat fish during lent since medieval ages. The catholic rule is for the flesh of warm blooded animals. So that means birds and mammals are off the table, but fish and technically reptiles aren't. So you could eat a fish or a crocodile just aa well during lent, as a catholic, and be good to go. You're following the rules of catholic lent.
Orthodox lent forbids eating meat from an animal with a backbone. So fish and and land animals are off the table. But orthodoxy allows you to eat shellfish and mollusks just as well. Although a lot of orthodox forego any meat at all.
