This appeals a lot to Jews who are (with the exception of the orthodox ones) very liberal. It's also a religion of individualism which is also appealing to them because group cohesion is seen as dangerous (especially if it's others who do it).
The founder of the Church of Satan was a literal Jew.
Satanists don't actually worship Satan. They don't worship anyone but themselves. Which is what Satanism is.
They do, what your thinking of Luciferianism, which is a what a lot of self-proclaimed satanists actually are, but actual satanists do worship satan because they know God is real and *hate* Him.
I'm not aware of any satanist organization in the sense that you describe, although I guess there must be people who actually worship Satan (explicitly I mean).
