Content mirroring between [scored.co/c/ConsumeProduct](https://scored.co/c/ConsumeProduct) and [arete.network/b/ConsumeProduct](https://arete.network/b/ConsumeProduct) is now ready for an experimental test run. There are bound to be some issues starting out and changes may be reverted if anything goes catastrophically wrong.

I have tried my best to minimize the number of requests to the Scored API as much as possible, which means that feed updates won't happen in real time, but they should still be frequent enough to display fresh content (currently a 15 minute interval). Old posts will be updated when accessed directly or when listed on feeds.

I've made sure to respect content deletion and not retain deleted content, so as long as everything works as intended, content deleted by users on scored.co should become unavailable as soon as someone attempts to view it, if not prior to that through feed updates detecting discrepancies.

Any posts or comments you make on Arete Network's Consume Product board will be automatically crossposted to Scored by a bot account.

Mirrored content is by default hidden from Arete's front page, but you may choose to enable it in [your settings](https://arete.network/settings/), or turn it off entirely if you so desire.

Testing if post submissions are no longer broken.
This poll is also open to unregistered users.

Thanks to @happybillmoney for suggesting this feature.

You can make your own polls by submitting a post to Arete and selecting "Poll" as the type.
Polls are now a thing. They are available as a new post type and enabled by default on all existing boards.

You may also optionally open them to unregistered users.

Another "drama free" one made by Candelabro, intended for more mature discussions, preferred by many over the public one. Private; you have to request an invite:

Note that this is still a work in progress, so expect some things to not work as expected or potentially break entirely. In the worst case scenario I will revert the site to its current state. More changes may be coming in the next few days.

The main part of this update are technical changes that would likely not interest you, namely the rewrite of a significant portion of the backend code, database structure, logging system and protocols for interprocess communication. This project may become open source when this update is complete.

There are however some other additions:

 - A shorter page header which should improve the user experience on mobile
 - Some button icons were changed, minor color scheme tweaks and an entirely new spritesheet file
 - Chat now supports Markdown formatting (with the same syntax as elsewhere)
 - Dropdown menus on posts, comments and chat messages to remove clutter
 - You no longer have to be the owner of a chatroom to manage its whitelist
 - The ability to block users

Welcome everyone who just joined. You may also join the [live chat](https://arete.network/chat/Server-ConProElite/) (which is still very active). Note that we must keep it whitelist-only due to trolls continuously making spam accounts. To gain access click on the button to DM me or post a message in the [public one](https://arete.network/chat/Server-ConsumeProduct/).
Live chat is still active, although we mainly participate in the private invite-only room. This is to stop trolls from continuously making new alts to spam.

To be invited please leave a comment here, message me directly or post a message in the public chat.

Due to some changes regarding how attachments across the site are handled (both in chat and on boards), a bug was introduced in the latest update preventing you from submitting anything except image posts.

This should now be fixed.
Support for API keys has been added as well as documentation for a good amount of existing endpoints.

https://arete.network/dev/

If you wish to gain access to the API options page from your user menu, enable developer options in [your settings](/settings/).
People who opted to keep their passwords when deactivating accounts can now recover them. This does not bring back deleted content. Anything deleted is gone for good.

Password reset is now possible provided that you have configured a recovery email.

The recovery email is stored as a salted hash, in the same way as your password.

* Added board filters (AutoModerator). The filter option in board settings is now fully functional.

* More granular controls for chat alerts. You can now limit alerts to @username mentions and replies.

* Sound alerts in chat can now be turned off.
There was an issue preventing posts from submitting. That's been fixed.

Boards are now ordered by recent activity instead of their subscriber count.

Activity is defined as the number of posts and comments in a rolling 48 hour window, with a post being worth 5x more than a comment.

Large boards such as b/ConsumeProduct may be absent from the list until they get populated with new content.

The issue lies in a very outdated .js file cached from a previous visit. Such problems should hopefully not happen in the future.

To fix it you must perform a hard refresh or just clear your browser's cache.
