And it's not like you can just run the furnaces all the time. All the remains would clog it up, requiring it to be cleaned after just a few cremations. Plus it would require men to run and oversee it, so you'd need 3 shifts to operate it continually.

The number just refers to the normal wake time of 8 AM to 10 PM, and only one 9 hour session fits into that.

So if you want to optimize it, you'd have to have 2 or rather 3 shifts.
