There are better options that are healthier. Polyester and other synthetics feel gross on the skin. Synthetics have the quality of being cheap. I can concede there are good blends and I like the idea of space age materials but that's the exception and not the rule.

I've also seen it claimed that synthetic fabrics are endocrine disrupters, but I doubt that's neatly as bad as storing (or even worse, cooking) food in plastic containers. Synthetic fabric also tends to be very flammable.

The flammability is less of an issue, it's more that if it does ignite it will melt onto your skin making it a lot more dangerous if it does catch
