They don't believe that babies have souls. They believe that "g-d" (they literally cannot say God, even in typing) puts souls into bodies at a later age. This Talmudic belief is the basis for abortion.

"God puts souls into bodies at a later age"... I think God has been quite remiss in fulfilling this duty. If God is perfect, this then is his design. Explains a lot.
