As someone who lived in California until middle school at that time I can tell you this is bullshit. I was in Northern Cali and Silicon Valley and while there were very few blacks, there were Asians, Indians and Latinos everywhere. I only saw Mexicans in farming towns or on the soccer field as a little kid as my family avoided Oakland like the plague. Oakland is where the blacks were as well.

I grew up feeling like I was literally Superman on the playground and playing sports because the people were all midgets. It wasn't until my family moved to the Midwest that I was surrounded by mainly white people.

You could find mostly white people like this in San Diego, probably because it was a military city. You could find them surfing in Northern Cali and in places like Monterey and Carmel (two of the most beautiful places on Earth) and Santa Cruz because that beach culture was a white thing other than Polynesian people who lived in LA with all the Mexicans and Blacks.

So yeah LA was a shithole. San Diego was mostly white, Bay Area was white, Asian and Latino and stay the hell out of Oakland and some parts of San Jose and Northern Northern Cali was cow towns, awesome forest and mostly white small towns with an almost midwest feel.
