The 2014 coup was purported to be about Ukrainians tired of Russian corruption/interference, which has some truth to it. Essentially Ukrainians wanted a westernization of Ukraine. The liberal youth wanted to be closer to their faggot peers in the west, for the same prejudices nobody in the west wants to move to Russia. There's nothing appealing about the Russian model, it's just an oligarchy of kikes.
The west capitalized on this and their newfound Ukranian folk heroes said the only way forward is to derussify Ukraine. A lot of the normies, especially in eastern Ukraine, did not like the idea of being derussified because it's essentially absurd. It's like saying deamericanize Canada so it can join the EU.
It's not really an ethnic conflict, it's just kikes terrorizing the population. Both countries are genetically the same, and used to even speak the same language before the new language mandates.
