Just a guess that the operators of such sites were inexperienced and spooked on baseless legal notices designed to slow them down and that maybe with legal counsel they will bouce back in due time
Xcancel and Nitter were utilizing an ancient guest-cookie loophole / using that to load posts to their own sites / and then sharing that with the requesting parties.
As I read it, Txitter ended the existence of the guest-cookie at their own end. This alone would have broken Xcancel and Nitter. Any cease orders by lawyers were unnecessary / extraneous to ending the 3rd party services.
Being housed overseas wouldn't have helped, either, since wherever the services' location it would still need that guest cookie.
Another site called Twitterwebviewer (had never heard of it before yesterday) seems to have worked a day or so longer than the others, as I did witness it work once during yesterday. Xcancel's published notice says August 24, Twitterwebviewer's says August 28.
(So), as I read it, either Twitterwebviewer had some system besides the guest-cookie loophole - which might still work from overseas, or else Xcancel and Nitter ended their services, simply from being asked, 3 or 4 days before the actual pulling of guest cookies. And, now, everyone is dead.
