I'm also curious about this, what platform would you suggest for making an RPG? I've heard criticism of the RPGM franchise, but no suggestions about what to use instead.

I'd like to know that too. People criticize RPGM, but I don't see how other game engines would do better than RPGM for making JRPG-style games.
