I don't have it handy but there's a short sci fi story published on the "old" /pol/ that was about an alien race finding a primitive earth in the future. Basically the premise was that we had burned up all our easy to access fossil fuels. Instead of using them to bootstrap civilization to the nuclear/fusion stage or using orbital solar, the energy was used to feed and support nons. Eventually they ran out, and and the remaining fossil fuel reserves were too deep and required high technology to extract. But we no longer could sustain the technological civilization required to get them, let alone higher energy systems. Life was forever locked on Earth. A depressing and possibly very real scenario, if we don't get of our butts soon and act.

Fossil fuels don't exist. There's no such thing as "non-renewable resources." It was all a jewish lie implemented by Rockefeller to justify oil control and pricing through scarcity false mindset. There's way more coal/oil/fresh water/whatever than we could ever consume faster than the earth naturally produces even if we had a world population 80x higher than this.
