The waters have been muddied so bad on this subject it's hard to find the truth. Both sides spin the hell out of it. I have what I believe to be a safe position that even the most devout evangelical can't argue against.
Start with the premise that God has a covenant with the Jews for arguments sake. If they are God's children, then it is up to God to bless, punish and provide for them. Biblical history is full of God blessing and punishing them. Now for my position. If God is punishing them for sin, wouldn't I be working against God by blessing them when he is in the middle of punishing them? And if he is blessing them, wouldn't I be working against God by trying to punish them? How would you react if someone was working against your efforts to raise your children? It's not our place to interfere.
The other thing that evangelical Christians try to establish is "End times". Regarding this aspect, who's to say this is it? Who's to say God isn't going to allow them to get dispersed and it's not for another 1,000 years for prophecy to be fulfilled? Could it just be that evangelical preachers are mistaken? Or worse yet just trying to scare you out of your money? Those are the positions I take to get people to start thinking critically. When the mind is open, additional information can finally be absorbed
