Regarding his training to be a monk, I really do understand the church's side in this. Monks don't do all of that, it's not at all a monk's job to scream homilies. That job is for preachers, which he isn't. He was a monk, now hes technically a layman (so he can do whatever he wants i guess). I imagine that the american wing of the orthodox church probably has a bigger leash to put on people, but the orthodox church in most other places (particularly the middle east) never discouraged a priest from being an anti semite. Or a monk, but being a monk disqualifies you from being a social media star I would presume, and vice versa.
