Assassinate them. Hide your identity well, be smart about it, never admit to anything, don't play too smart or too stupid if they manage to interrogate you.

Well, there are alternatives too. Do something none of them do. For example if I'd catch my target on stage giving a speech, I'd walk up, beat him up a little and press his face to the ground. I'd humiliate him to the highest possibly extent, and even rename him and have him say his new name. The boys I'd come with would keep the security in check.
A few minutes of this is all I'd need to 1. humiliate that person permanently, reducing his power and providing ammunition for opponents to be used against him, to 2. establish myself in the public as genuine (who in their right mind would do something like this? Who has ever done something like this?), 3. send a message. I would make sure to tell the truth in a rhetoric speech, ask him questions I know he cannot answer well or truthfully, and mockingly say things like "Here is your little dictator. Is this the way you want to destroy our country?"
It's terror, yes, but guess what - it works extremely well. In societies of faggots and cowards, the effect of it is that much higher.
