Read the article about her on wikijewdia. She was literally insane, and had been suffering from mental illness all of her life, as did her brother, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. She had been in an out of hospitals and asylums all of her life. Her family were orthodox jews who later moved to Israel. No great surprise there.
