Ive heard someone "coin" the phrase "tolerance pricing", these AI programs calculate the maximum revenue they can generate from the customer base, 15 people are willing to spend $50, but only 10 people are willing to spend $100, so the product is priced at $100 until the AI calculates a new maximum revenue point. The actual cost of the product is irrelevant at this point.

The take away is that product/service pricing based on competitiveness is totally dead, I would say it has been since probably 2008 or so, but it certainly is now.
