Flooding is very complicated and the engineering behind flood prevention in our cities is fascinating. When more than 40% of the land is sealed, ground water content is altered and the entire region must settle into a geographically unnatural/new foundation. And then rainwater has less surface to access the ground so it must be diverted somewhere. That's why we have so many massive retaining ponds and 6ft tubes under our roads turning them into little creek-bridges. An insane amount of thought and work is put into handling the rare Springtime event when it pours for a week straight while the snow piles melt.

That being said, "climate change" is something we shouldn't be so quick to scoff off. It is a catch-phrase used to tax and regulate us and is based on a lot of phony Science; but the reality is that mankind is indeed changing the environment and ultimately the global climate through centuries of pollution and other irresponsible choices. We should be aware of this and act accordingly. Know that it is the same people destroying the environment that use the "climate change" argument, they are hypocrites.
