Hate and unforgiveness are definitely sins. You can't hate. Self preservation is not a sin and we are to be wise as servants and gentle as doves.
We can recognize patterns and act accordingly, but God loves them too. We must want good for them.

Psalm 149: do I not hate them with a perfect hatred Lord? To love something one must hate it's opposite.

While we are cherry picking verses.
"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Matthew 5:43-48).
Jesus said that, he also loved his enemies and prayed for those who persecuted them. The point of Christianity is to be like Christ.
It's also in the Lords prayer. "Forgive us our sins AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO SIN AGAINST US."
Very clear the we are forgiven in as much as we forgive others.
Hatred is a sin.
