i had the fucking book thrown at me for a minor offense: fines, jail time, community service, probation, years of not being able to get a real job--all for a little petty crime that didn't hurt anyone. years later i was the first responder on the scene of an accident where a drunk+high illegal mexican ran a red light and T-boned a cop at an intersection nearly killing the cop. since i was a witness I was supeonaed to testify in court. the day before i show up in court i get a call from the court clerk telling me i don't need to come to the courthouse anymore because the prosecutor is not moving forward with the case or declined to prosecute or press charges or some shit. really pisses me off
