That use to be the case, but unfortunately the proliferation of cheap Chinese e-bikes, and Ubers have changed the dynamic for the worse. Now you have to move even further away from “civilization”.

Maybe to some extent. The reality is there are no charging stations 3-4 miles out of the hood when you're deep into the suburbs. There are no/few Hip Hop clubs and bars when you get a few miles into the suburbs. There is no watermelon or purple drank at the end of the rainbow even when you move a few miles out of the city. Bonus points if you live on the other side of a body of water like a fast moving river that separates you from the city.

Personally, I moved across the bridge to my sister city and it's like day and night. Suddenly there are no shopping carts, no needles, no zombies, it's crazy what a body of water can do. Turns out Fenty zombies can't swim.
