Honestly, I've never seen it. Pedowood was making so many African-themed movies at the time, like "The Last King of Scotland". "The Constant Gardener" is another movie from that era. It's "based" insofar that it's a perfect portrayal of Lefty Eurocucks. Rachel Weisz attempts to expose her Big Pharma employer for running vaccine experiments on Africans. Pharma has her wacked by some African mercs for pocket change.
Then Ralph Fiennes goes about trying to prove it and get her report published. After being warned to leave it alone, he too gets wacked by some Sub-Saharan mercs. No report is published and nothing changes. The movie attempts to frame them as martyrs, of course. Two White people are murdered trying to help Africans, and yet the movie frames the whole of Africa as the "victim" of Capitalism and White men. "Absolute cinema!"
