Yeah I think one of the tougher pills to swallow is that even the "pan-White" aspect of OG America was a mistake. Germans, Anglos, Irish, Italians were all butting heads like crazy before all the wildly subhuman races started showing up. And it set the precedent that other groups beyond the founding stock could come in. jews were amending an existing mechanism rather than inventing a new one when Hart-Celler rolled around.

I think that's also a stealth reason why there's so much difficulty for the right wing to unite. We look at each other and see "White," and automatically assume we'll be exactly alike, but the reality is that if one of us is Anglo and the other is Irish, that's enough distance for us to think significantly differently from each other even if we're vastly more similar to each other than to nons.
