An old small farm is way better than virgin land. Cutting down forest is time consuming and very expensive. Old farms usually have old outbuildings nd some fences. Fixing that is easier and cheaper than installing new. Also, the old farms usually were placed well by people who understood the land. My old farm always catches a breeze even on the hottest day, has a great old well. Had a bunch of decent paddocks and fences that needed repairs but are mostly standing strong. The house needed a lot of work and repairs. Basement Flooded non stop for weeks, but new gutters and some digging fixed it. It’s got great bones, framed with old American chestnut. It’ll stand another 200 years.
