GDP matters to an extent but the problem is that most of the other metrics that matter aren't easily measurable so many people decided to just use GDP as the only metric to evaluate quality of life.

This is a huge problem for society. Someone needs to come up with a better metric and the Quality of Life metrics the UN uses are even worse than GDP.
