I'm gonna take a lot of flak for saying this but I don't give a shit: Industrial pollution has absolutely affected the environment, and it very well may have affected the planet's climate systems, but the extent to which this is the case, and the solutions to those problems, are intentionally obscured by environmentalists who would rather scream that the sky is falling, belittle you if you question any facet of their narrative, and demand you eat bugs, as well as industrialists who snidely scoff at any hint of climate concerns because continuing to pump out pollutants is more profitable for them.
