Currency values did shift substantially. Those smaller humps in the pre-fed area were pretty large from a relative percentage wise. The whole official narrative behind why the Fed was created was to stabilize that volatility. And it did. Butil it replaced the two way street of currency fluctuation with the "stable" constant devaluation. It replaced a volatile market with a permanent, neverending system of usury.
