Mussolini was a journalist. His relationship with the fascists is an interesting one. He also made several films before the war speaking directly to the American audience in English. He wasn't particularly petty at least in the earlier stages of his career.

Although, I agree, his sensibilities and sympathies would have laid with the Russians and almost certainly would have seen him adopt a tepid attitude towards the West as some other border countries in the Eastern Bloc had.

Finally, I never capitalize or spell isreal correctly, on purpose.

I don't know if it would have been particularly tepid. Italy *was* one of the strongest countries in Europe, it just exhausted itself before ww2 and needed time that wasn't given to prepare for the war that happened at an earlier date than they had prepared for. An italo-soviet pact emerging from ww2 would necessitate an italy with a significantly greater deal of strength than it actually had, and it would have remained a power bloc in Europe. I see an italy that would have been actively aggressive on the geopolitical chessboard against at least the other nato countries besides the US. Plus, in this alternative scenario, spain and portugal would have likely been part of the Italian bloc. And it's likely that metaxis either aligns himself with italy and throws off the weak British support for Greece, or that italy succeeds in taking Greece over with soviet aid. American influence in Europe would be diminished, severely. *Maybe* turkey would be pro-US. It'd likely only be strong in the UK. Even France was always quite independently minded.

Furthermore, I consider that Israel must be destroyed
