November 1998: The Captain of USS Liberty .... Captain McGonagle breaks his long silence: “After many years I finally believe that the attack was deliberate. I don’t think there has been an adequate investigation of the incident . . . The flag was flying prior to the attack...” McGonagle will die four months later, on March 3, 1999.
