For me, my wife and I are waiting for our first child. It's a difficult wait, but it will be worth it. What are you having to be patient for in your own lives?

Here's a little reassuring bit of wisdom for you in your case. Once you see those little eyes look up at you, all 9 months of whatever hell you two went through, will melt away.

My New Years resolution is to be less tolerant, so I guess there's a distinction to be made.

Patience and tolerance are both matters of endurance. The difference is whether you *should* endure something or do something about it.

If you're waiting for a baby, that's patience; it's something you have to do to get something Good.

If you're waiting for niggers to stop blaring music outside your home, that's tolerance; you are trying to hide from negative consequences but nothing Good is at the end of said wait.

Back to your question, I'm at the other end of childhood; I'm waiting for my kids to become self-sufficient so I can fully focus on making money again. The Good I'm waiting for is that they won't be weak betas that need caring for their entire lives.

What I'm tolerating is my ex not getting a job (after being handed a ton of government benefits for not having a job, for no particular reason). Sometimes it's a fine line; there isn't much I can do to resolve the issue myself, but there's also no guarantee that any Good will come from not doing something.

Nonsense quote. We’re all being actively exterminated from the face of the Earth and we do nothing but endure it with patience.

My family has made realize that I have depths of patience and compassion, I didn't realize even existed within myself.
