No other country on the planet causes as much political tension as Israel does. No country ever did. Entire party lines are drawn based solely off of whether or not they support Israel. When Nixon supported China it did not cause this controversy. When fdr supported the ussr it did not cause this controversy. Nobody would give anywhere near as much of a fuck, for instance, if the next president of the US openly supported even Russia. Or China. Or iran. If a country is this contentious by nature, maybe it shouldn't exist and maybe they deserve this reputation that they have. I am of a mind that popular opinion is so against israel at this point, that if Donald trump sent weapons and billions of dollars to China and launched a joint invasion of Taiwan together, it would garner less controversy than Iran. This is good, though.
