Golden retrievers are actually in the 3rd place of most intelligent dog breeds. They are just not aggressive... and mine is also fearful. One thunderstorm and I'll have to move her into the basement. But she is 100% safe outside with humans and other dogs, no danger of her ever attacking someone. Cats on the other hand are a different matter... she cannot not chase them like a maniac.
I jest. I know well that labs and goldens are very smart. Though they've always been pretty likely in my experience to enjoy doing dumb shit and getting into trouble because of their energy levels.
