There's a lot to even just not getting ripped off buying land man. Like a whole flipping book can be written about just that part alone in 2026.

Its not simple.
Realtors will obfuscate and not provide information in hopes of you being dumb and buying land you cant build on or that has other not immediately obvious issues.

I applaud your idea but if you really want to help young men show them a system that makes it feasible, like explain it or point to information others have put together on the subject.

I love the idea. I jave been wanting to do this for a while but truth be told it seems to me at least you need about 200k to get started with the land purchase without debt, the prep and putting up of a simple hut decently sized barndominium shell.

Thats not even having a single wall pn the inside, no kitchen, bathrooms etc. I estimate another 100k minimum for builder grade trash there and likely 200k with my wife's input.

Nobody's living in a fucking cabin, even that guys doing it for the video/clout/just to say hes done it.

Meh, I'm looking at 50 acre lots for under $50k. The catch is that they're in unincorporated townships (absolutely no service, or even road access) and they're in Northern Ontario.

At that price I don't have to move/sell my current place. I can let it sit and/or use it for camping as long as I like (the property tax is less than $500/year). If the land is unuseable, I can just list it, or even list it at a profit as soon as I buy it so see if I get any takers.

It's not about living off-grid, it's about actually owning something before globo-homo locks *everything* down.

Sometimes the reasons no one else wants the land might be the reason you DO want the land.
