Chose to renovate my bathroom rather than have a contractor fuck it up.

It took a LOT of effort and time to thoroughly research which products work best and how to build within code laws. Much of the effort was fixing problems created by the builders when they cut corners.

We're lucky enough to have a second shower down-stairs.

But it's done and now:

* Because a 2nd floor total shower renovation (tearing out and replacing EVERYTHING) is one of the most complex renovation projects for a house, I learned an enormous amount of new skills and technical knowledge (and have identified oceans of scams).

* It cost about $1,200 (including a few new hand tools) whereas a tradesman would have charged at least $10,000 for what I wanted.

* I am now the world expert in how my bathroom works. If anything goes wrong then I'll have learned a lesson and have the tools to fix it.

* I know absolutely NO corners were cut. Everything was done with precision and care.

* It's perfect.
