I hit the wake up button on my boomer parents by pointing out that Gen X on down is all-but-completely disillusioned with the whole system, and for me personally (and I'm probably not alone), it's because I'm introducing my kids to it, and I have nothing nice to say. The house is burning, and the Red (TM) solution is to have a fire sale, while the Blue (TM) solution is to fill the fire tankers with gasoline and spray. No one with any political power (in any Western country even) seems interested in trying to save the house.

My boomer mom did the boomer thing even not too long ago where she was at the library, and some changing consumer habits were there being loud and niggerful, and she was telling me "I know I'm not supposed to worry because that's racist, but I couldn't help but feel uneasy." Like FUUUUUCK where was this 50 years ago when it could've mattered?

The best I can do for my kids is to say it's okay to be racist - every other race is, and they're proud of it (even if their race is shit). By the time they're my age, it will be necessary for survival. It already is in some places.

Just fucking sucks because I remember growing up looking forward to a future of opportunity, safety, security, and prosperity. The future for my kids is just so dark - literally and metaphorically.
