Always have been. When I was a kid a programming teacher said that every single human invention was created as a weapon of war. If I weren't so blind back then I would've left the field to become a carpenter.
Well, it depends on if you do or don't. I could create some things that could be used by governments for malicious purposes. For example:
1. A tool that analyses patterns in written text to identify if it's the same person. It would use information like vocabulary depth, average word length, character distribution, punctuation usage, average sentence length. I already have a prototype that does check various patterns, but I found that it's not easy to create pattern profiles, and that they aren't too reliable. If I'd work intensely on that, it would go somewhere.
2. A projectile prediction system, assuming projectiles have to fly ~1-2 seconds at least, and that misses aren't disastrous. For my game I've made such a system, and I came up with the formulas myself. It's based on recent information of where the target has been and how it changes to predict where it would be assuming it would continue that.
3. A drone system with an overarching AI that controls drones to move in swarms and shoot down targets, sharing information about what they see with each other. So if one sees a target, another one can shoot through the wall to kill it. One key aspect would be to prevent hacking into them, so that if an attempt is detected, they shut down communication with each other. They could be set to patrol mode, where they still identify targets, and attack as appropriate, and also berserk mode, where they shoot at everything immediately. They'd also be equipped with sophisticated AIs as to prevent a wide variety of tricks. Another option is to have them piloted - but I'd prefer to have them controlled with a self-driving AI, where you just need to tell them what to do, where to go, etc.

All good ideas. The problem is if I share or open source it they'll at the very least find a way to weaponize it against us or even develop counter measures in the case if the drone system.
Anyway, in all my career I've always went great lengths selecting clients in order to not have my work used against society.
The real problem here is the lack of ethics of the software industry in general. Without it there are no morals thus the result we see today in society.

The LLM advancements do show that. And also social media and porn sites. These things are all honeyed poison that are detrimental to society. Even gaming is somewhat questionable.
I open source nothing. For example 1. I don't do because it would get primarily use for agencies destined to operate against people like us. So far I enjoy anonymity, and with that it could be removed. I'd ONLY use it for myself. 2. and 3. do not really solve the jewish problem in our countries, and worst case it could be used against us too.

Me neither. I open sourced just once twenty years ago. It was a templating library. I had so many troubles with ungrateful bastards complaining and making stupid requests I just abandoned the project and never did it again.
Nowadays when I use open source projects I just make my private branch and do my stuff privately independently of license.
