I'm applying for a wildfire fighter position on a crew of about 20 guys. I really want the job, I know I'll enjoy it and I also really need the money. I've veen unemployed for about 6 months now. I've been living with my parents for those 6 months. My mom works two jobs because my dad who is a highly experienced engineer can't find work of his own calibre, he's now been offered a position that seems to good to be true so I would love prayers for him too. If I can get a good paying job in the off season then I'll have a lot of opportunities for myself and others financially, to finish out mortgages, get off the rent treadmill and get off credit.

Thank you all in advance...

Good luck!

In the event it doesn't work out this time, continue collecting certs like merit badges and you'll get picked up soon enough. If you aren't a paramedic, get there, and if you want to play out in the middle of nowhere, get that wilderness medic cert and every other rescue cert you can squeeze in (ropes, technical rescue, swift water, flight medic, etc). Also keep an eye out for federal fire fighting positions (parks, military bases etc).

Sorry, you're overqualified for this position.

Nah, emergency services jobs love to see merit badges. Some agencies/departments get more funding amd higher accreditation scores for having people on their books with certain certs.
