I made a few posts recently, one pointing out how the Trinity is not in the Bible (so stop saying that), another how the Bible cannot be infallible (or inerrant) (so stop saying that) and finally another one pointing out how ever Christian is Christian because they had an encounter with God in one way or the other.
This post should help you understand why those things are so important.
We are in a war, and that war can sometimes be a physical war, but it often is not. We are in a constant struggle and it is a war we are fighting with our spirits and minds and hearts, not necessarily our hands and feet.
This battle is between unseen (but not invisible) forces. One side wants to tear our souls away from God and send us to eternal damnation. The other side wants to reunite our spirits with God and enjoy the promised eternal exaltation living with God and living LIKE God.
Every moment of every day you are making choices, choices you were presented with when one or the other side presented you with enticements. It is imperative that we learn, early and often, how to distinguish whether an idea / spirit / desire is of God or of Satan. And it is imperative that we choose to follow God's spirits, not the spirits that follow Satan.
How can you possibly see the end from the beginning?
Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life." Whatever draws us closer to Christ is good and from God. Whatever drives us away from him is of Satan. That's all you need to know, really, and that's the key that unlocks all the spiritual potential within you.
Having confidence in Christ means we have confidence in those spirits and souls that swear allegiance to him and are working under his direction. We can move forward with faith that we are on the right side and working for the benefit of not just ourselves, but all of the people around us.
Without that confidence, we hesitate, we miss opportunities, and we end up in a depressed and in sorrow. We lose our hope. We lose our vitality and health. We become losers of the worst sort, because we have sacrificed our potential.
It is imperative that we not act like this any longer. Embrace Christ, follow his example, follow the promptings and ideas and desires that lead toward him without hesitation. Anything else -- shelve it for a while, leave it alone, let it stew off to the side, or throw it out altogether.
This is how our ancestors did what they did. It is how we are going to do what we are going to do.
The time is now! No more delay!
READ THE BIBLE.
PRAY TO GOD.
FOLLOW HIS SPIRIT!
That is a really, really bad translation of that verse. "theopneustos" doesn't mean "God-breathed". Yes, "theo" means "God" or "god" and "pneustos" means "breath", but that particular word should be translated as "inspirational". Contemporary historical examples show it as meaning such.
> Congrats, you have somehow managed to become the most retarded poster on ConPro.
You can't argue with my points so you call me retarded. Nice.
> Also, you said "FOLLOW HIS SPIRIT". Are you saying God's Spirit is also GOD (could it be that God is triune?) Or are you telling us to follow something other than God?
For those in the back, who have a hard time following simple logic:
* The Bible clearly teaches that the Father is God
* The Bible teaches that Jesus is God (but you have to do some interpretation to get there, thankfully, exegetical)
* The New Testament suggests that the Spirit is God (but the Old Testament doesn't make that clear)
* NOWHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT EVER SUGGEST THAT ALL THREE ARE THE SAME BEING
That last point is the point I was trying to make.
When you say "The Bible clearly teaches the Trinity" you are not telling the truth. It teaches some aspects of the doctrine of the Trinity, just not the part about them being the same being yet separate persons.
In fact, it's clear that the ancient Christians had no problem with multiple deities acting in perfect harmony in the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
> Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord
If the Bible were in fact God-breathed, then it would be infallible, yes?
This is nonsense, and I made a post pointing out how absurd it is to interpret the Bible as being infallible.
The Bible isn't inerrant either.
The Bible isn't even "God-breathed". That's a bad translation of Timothy and it's contrary to the context as well. *All scripture* is inspiring but that definitely cannot refer to the 66 books of the protestant cannon.
Now, as to shema, which you are quoting, I've already explained that "One Lord" is a bad translation, but if you want to run with it, then you have to see that Genesis 2 says man and woman are to be "one flesh". Certainly you don't believe that man and woman, when they are married, conglomerate into "one flesh" in the literal sense of that word?
If not, and, like a sane person, you interpret "one" more along the lines or "united" and then you realize that Israel did not worship only one being but several who are all YHWH (see for instance when YHWH on earth calls on YHWH in heaven to rain fire on Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis) then you realize that the shema is better translated as "UNITED" or even "ALONE", but certainly not "one" as in "one substance".
If you want to debate me, you really have to engage with what I am saying rather than just endlessly repeating the same nonsense over and over again.
