If I have a credit card attached to my account, isn't that proof enough? The TOS also state that I am who I claim to be and that I take responsibility for use of the account. So what's the issue? This has NOTHING to do with safety. It's Big Business helping Big Government create a digital "dragnet" to identify everyone and everyone they know and everything they do online. Period.
It a global dragnet to pinpoint everyone and everything so they can control everyone and everything.
Eventually all sites will require ID. The government will force them to. Without anonymity, nobody will be able to speak the truth and keep a job. Worse, there will only be a tiny few services that verify IDs (like how there are only three credit reporting agencies). The government will control these and revoke your authorization if you commit wrongthink.
Literally no.
“Okay, well, *they* don’t have good intentions, but the concept can be directed to—”
No. It can’t. Let people say ‘nigger’ while playing a video game. Failing to do so leads to mass genocide.
