They actually did bomb a few camps. Allied bombing killed at least 1500 sick prisoners in a hospital barracks and 8,000 civilians in Norhausen. The bombing occured on April 3&4 1945. The camp was taken by American troops on April 10th. They then put out the infamous newsreel with thousands of bodies stacked up, claiming it was all at the hands of the SS.
