Nono, the "assassination" wasn't for *Trump's* benefit, it was to turn him into a living martyr for his base and discredit his Leftist opponents (who were already pretty batshit in the first place).

Trump knew the first one was coming (*fist pump*), not sure about the second.

And yes, he was already deeply zogged, but he's so selfish and arrogant that he tried to extort his own handlers by fucking up their plans unless they cut him in. And it looks like he succeeded.
