I confronted my boomer dad who, like 99% of boomers, just sees the US as an economic zone, with the Ronald Reagan "these dumb pajeet/somali/sub-Saharan niggers are just as American as you or me" philosophy. I presented to him the conundrum of Hollywood, of Paramount, Netflix, Nickelodeon, Disney, etc. going all in on gay & nigger shit (couldn't say nigger of course, but I'm not going to dumb down the language for this crowd).
I said "if they were trying to expand their reach, they would have just dipped their toes, right? But they didn't. They went all in, running beloved franchises like Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, Ghostbusters, the MCU (Blacktain America), etc. etc. And when the niggerfaggoty versions of all those IPs failed, *they doubled down again and again,* hemorrhaging money in the process.
So I asked him, if a greater economy is the point of all of this diversity, then why isn't it paying off? And why is it pursued relentlessly, forced upon us, even as it is roundly rejected?
They're selling a product that no one wants to a market that effectively doesn't exist (Dad was in sales before he retired, so this is the most effective way to frame it) - why?
He had no answer of course, because boomers are incapable of naming the jew. He didn't bring up politics either, which to me is a sign that even he is tired of getting "fell for it again" awards in the news cycle.
