Yeah, that's a boomer-brained take. For prior generations, it was normal to take care of your kids and help them get started, then they take care of you when you're too old to work. Multi-generational households and even clan compounds with multiple related families living on them are normal, it's the modern atomized status quo that's an anomaly.
What am I supposed to do? Kick my kids out at 18 to get buried in debt with school and housing so I can have a sewing room?
