You pray to God or Jesus. There are no middlemen.
God likes to use typology in the Bible. Sodom and Gemorrah are types or examples of our sinful human lives and what God is going to do to them if we don't repent. But this story has an interesting wrinkle. These destitute wrecks of cities were prayed for by Abraham, asking for God's Mercy to be extended if but a small handful of good men could be found.
Abraham is the advocate, standing in the breech before God.
Same with Moses. Often, he was the only one standing in the way between God's wrath and the wicked Israelites, advocating continuously for mercy.
it's amazing how many people can fuck up such simple instructions and come up with wild stories to justify it.
