The Spanish colonies were viceroyalties that were governed by separate government officials with different takes on that matter under the service of the Spanish crown. The amount of Spanish territory held was also absolutely enormous and thus race varies wildly in each country.

It wasn't really that they were different and that the British colonists were more racist. Actually, the reason for the Spanish mixing and the British not mixing was because the Spanish had a lot of bargaining chips that put a huge amount of natives on their side in places with large centralized amerindian imperial governments. The British had jack shit to offer the natives besides alcohol and guns, and the north American natives also didn't have overlords that they hated, so the British were more or less on the defensive the entire time against enemies that they had nothing to bring to the table for. The Spanish also conquered more populated areas in general, and more of everything, because the Spanish conquered almost the entirety of both continents with the exception of Brazil, the 13 colonies, and Canada.

The latter case was, however, the situation that the Spanish found themselves in in places like Argentina and Paraguay, and also the modern day southwestern US, and they did not really mix with the people here either, which is why Tejanos in Texas tend to be a hell of a lot whiter than other Mexicans.

They are. What hasn't yet been mentioned is when a genetic study was done in 2014 most the "White Cubans" were found to be mixed with [Black African and Native American DNA.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Cubans)

I will say that a majority of Cubans are more White than I expected them to be.
