It's always difficult to sort how the American forefathers thought of jews versus how jews today WANT me to believe the forefathers thought of jews.

I wonder if jews sorted through all Jefferson's writings before the American people ever got ahold of it. Apparently a jew bought his estate.

To be honest, this is so insane that I think it's made the fuck up. Like the idea that german should be used instead of English (which was also a myth, but one with a lot more tact). Hebrew at the time was a dead language that only existed for reading jew scribbles. They had to create a piecemeal language out of german, russian, and Arabic loanwords in the late 1800s/early 1900s to have any sort of identity to go with the zionist movement. In the 1700s, it would have been impossible to use Hebrew at all as a nation's language. Not even the jews spoke it anywhere but the synagogue.

The founding fathers had a massive interest in ancient languages in general. They also knew ancient Greek and Latin. Hebrew was most certainly not off the table for them to be studious about.
