Remember when China made Hollywood change the villians of Red Dawn remake?
No, the producers changed it "voluntarily" to not offend China. That was at a time when China was investing big money into Pedowood and they didn't want to offend them by portraying them as villains. In one of the "Transformers" movies, they portrayed Chinese scientists as being smarter than us. In "Arrival," the Chinese led the efforts for diplomacy with the aliens, whereas America just wanted to nuke them. It definitely took a self-deprecating tone over time, which I'm sure came naturally to America-hating Leftists in Pedowood.
